Ancient Hawaii was a stone age culture. There were no metals or clays used to create implements. Weapons were of stone or wood. Wooden images were carved by using the stone adze. Some of the most well preserved artifacts are of stone. Stones were made into fishing lures, weights, game stones, ancient food processors (poi pounders, pestles and mortars), weapons, bowls, and many different types of implements.
